Dr. Booth earned his BS in Chemistry (with ACS Certification) at Southeastern Louisiana University (1995) and his PhD in Chemistry with a graduate minor in Polymer Science and Engineering at The University of Southern Mississippi (2000). Dr. Booth then worked in the National Science Foundation’s Science and Technology Center (NSF-STC) for Environmentally Responsible Solvents and Processes at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist.
Dr. Booth has been on the faculty of the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Texas State University since 2001 and has served as graduate advisor from 2009 until 2015. Dr. Booth's research interests are in the development of high-performance transparent materials for specialized applications, the development of novel approaches to anti-biofouling transparent windows for marine applications, and flexible materials for use as membranes in natural gas purification. Dr. Booth has over 18 grants to his credit as PI or Co PI. He also has over 30 presentations, over 12 scholarly publications, and one patent. In addition, Dr. Booth has served as a technical consultant to several industries on technical issues.
Dr. Booth has supervised numerous graduate and undergraduate students in his laboratory. His research has been highlighted in Texas Monthly, Images of San Marcos, The University Star, Hill News, and Chemical & Engineering News. Booth is an engaging classroom teacher and has been named an Alpha Chi “Favorite Professor” five times and been named “Professor of the Month” by the university PanHellenic council.
