Policy Statement


Texas State University is committed to documenting the full professional responsibilities of faculty, reinforce the resource stewardship associated with faculty workloads, and require alignment between policies for workload, annual faculty evaluation, and tenure and promotion. 

01.SCOPE 

01.01 In accordance with university policy all faculty within the College of Science and Engineering have workloads that are distributed equitably and carried out efficiently and effectively.  

02.RELATED UNIVERSITY POLICIES 

02.01 AA/PPS No. 04.01.40, Faculty Workload 

03.PROCEDURES 

03.01 Due to the diverse nature of the disciplines that make up the College of Science and Engineering, no college policy and procedure statement (PPS) for faculty workload is available. Each department or school will be responsible for creating and maintaining a PPSs outlining workload policies that has been approved by the Dean for that unit.  

03.02 A faculty member’s professional responsibilities for each semester are determined by the chair or director, subject to the approval of the dean. Chairs or directors are responsible for ensuring that individual faculty members’ workloads comply with AA/PPS 04.01.40 and the workload policies of the academic unit. 

03.03 Each semester the chair/director submits the faculty workload which is reviewed by the Dean. 

03.04 Individual faculty workload reports are available in the Faculty Qualifications system.
