Repeating a course
W & I Grades
Any course that receives a W (withdraw) or I (incomplete) grade will be excluded from the calculation.
What counts in TXST GPA?
Only TXST grades count in the TXST GPA.
Grade replacement
The 2nd grade in a TXST course will replace a 1st grade in a TXST course for GPA purposes. The 2nd & subsequent TXST grades are included in TXST GPA.
CR, PR & transfer courses
Courses taken for CR (credit), PR (progress), and transfer course grades will not count in the Texas State GPA.
What is on my transcript?
All grades you earn, whether calculated in your GPA or not, will be displayed on your transcript. This includes W, I, U, CR, and PR grades.
Examples of how repeating courses affects the TXST GPA
Example 1:
- Fall 2020 - BIO 1330 - grade of F
- Spring 2021 - BIO 1330 - grade of D
- The F is not included in the TXST GPA calculation
- The D is included in the TXST GPA calculation
Example 2:
- Fall 2020 - BIO 1330 - grade of F
- Spring 2021 - BIO 1330 - grade of D
- Summer 2021 - BIO 1330 - grade of C
- The F is not included in the TXST GPA calculation
- The D is included in the TXST GPA calculation
- The C is included in the TXST GPA calculation. This is also the only grade used towards degree requirements.
Example 3:
- Fall 2020 - BIO 1330 - Grade of F
- Spring 2021 - BIO 1330 - Receives a W
- Summer 2021 - BIO 1330 - Grade of C
- The F is not included in the TXST GPA calculation
- The C is included in the TXST GPA calculation
Example 4:
- Fall 2020 - BIO 1330 - grade of F
- Spring 2021 - BIO 1330 - grade of C
- Summer 2021 - BIO 1330 - grade of D
- The F is not included in TXST GPA calculation
- The C is included in the TXST GPA calculation
- The D is included in the TXST GPA calculation. This is also the only grade used towards degree requirements.
Example 5:
- Fall 2020 - BIO 1330 - grade of F
- Spring 2021 - BIO 1330 equivalent at ACC - grade of B
- The F is included in the TXST GPA
- The B from ACC is not included in the TXST GPA. The ACC grade will be used towards degree requirements (it is most recent).
