Closed Classes

The College of Science and Engineering Academic Advising Center cannot add students to closed courses or closed sections of courses. Each department handles its own closed class procedures. Submitting a closed class request form does not guarantee a seat in a course.

Suggestions:

  1. Check for open seats regularly, multiple times per day. The more often you check, the more likely you are to be able to snag an opening.
  2. Determine if you can sign up for alternative courses. Utilize your advising notes in your Degree Audit, the undergraduate catalog, and flowcharts.
    • If the elective you want is closed, choose another elective that's open (and later change your schedule if a spot opens in the closed class).
    • Can you complete a different requirement this semester?
  3. If your desired section of a course is closed, but other sections are open, please register for the open section. You can adjust your schedule if an opening becomes available in your desired section.
